Chilworth Park Research Centre
Designed for scientific research and development use, Chilworth Park was jointly promoted by Southampton University and MEPC Developments.
The naturally ventilated offices are engaged around a chalk stone ellipse on an axis. The design takes its cue from the parkland setting of the grounds, in particular from the existing sequence of courts and terraces that surround the Manor. Two pavilions define the entrance and four pavilions create a central public space with shared gardens between them.
The buildings are designed with a timber cladding system and timber-slat sunshields held on tensioned wires.
